CONGRATULATIONS ON TAKING PART IN THE
LSSA SPRING FESTIVAL 2020
4 - 8 MAY
THANK YOU!
As is tradition with all LSSA festivals, we start by saying thank you. This will feel a bit like the Oscars, so imagine a teary-eyed person reading this out while they're holding a shampoo bottle under the spotlights of a bathroom.
<Acts surprised, clears throat and begins>
THANK YOU...
...to the athletic directors, teachers and principals who came together to inspire their respective school communities. It's also important to acknowledge that the kind words of support and appreciation you offered us throughout the event were energizing and much appreciated.
...to all the parents who supported their children with the creation of videos and pictures and a special thank you to those that joined in!
...TO THE THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS WHO TOOK PART! Without you...there would not have been a festival. Your creativity, dedication and positivity were truly inspiring. We enjoyed watching your clips and reading your emails and it's clear that you're all full of infinite potential.
Last but certainly not least...
Thank you to the ASL Athletics & P.E. alliance, formed of Lien Martens, Danny Cook and Akay Mustafa for hosting! From concept to completion, in little over one month, fueled by jokes, laughter and companionship...we couldn't have assembled a better team. Truth be told...definitely a little sad it's over!
Now that the thank you's are over...sit back, maybe even grab a snack and enjoy the rest of the closing ceremony!
FINAL SUMMARY AND RESULTS
***A big shout out to Helena, Gr8, from TASIS for uploading the 5000th submission and to Ryan, Gr11, also from TASIS, who uploaded the final submission of the tournament. GO ROYALS***
On May the 4th, the Rebel Alliance...oops. Sorry. The date set me off. On 4 May an unlikely group of 12 schools from 6 different nations got together to compete in the greatest sporting event the world had ever known. A soldier, some big cats, a couple of birds of prey and even a Dragon were poised to battle it out for the LSSA crown.
5609 submissions later we know the following to be true:
So, 5609 submissions, 25353 points and some witty (let me have this) banter later..I'm sure you all want to know the final results. If that's you and you're ready...you may click and watch the gala below. The gala video contains community spotlight highlights followed by the final results. It also contains 'best bit' montages for each school. Strap yourself in and see if you can spot you and your friends and family in the videos. If the final video isn't enough for you and you still want more...we have you covered. There are three bonus gala after-party rooms with videos featuring the cha cha plank, banana relay and toilet roll challenge.
Thank you again for taking part and ENJOY THE SHOW!

5609 submissions later we know the following to be true:
- Bananas are the cornerstone of any nutritious race.
- It's so much fun to celebrate our different cultures and to connect, especially when using our love of sport and performance as the bond.
- Eyestrain is real!
- Healthy competition is positive and ultimately no matter who comes out on top everyone can still enjoy the event itself.
- Toilet rolls are better projectiles than anyone ever knew.
- Yoga is the most popular form of exercise in the world.
- The Eye of the Panther is a very catchy song (watch the final gala video to get the reference).
